ALEXBANK & Sawiris Foundation
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, ALEXBANK and Sawiris Foundation for Social Development signed a memorandum of understanding worth 60 million pounds, whereby each party will allocate 30 million pounds over a period of 3 years, starting from 2022 until 2025, to support a number of initiatives and events aimed at supporting communities and individuals, through the economic and social empowerment of youth and women, including refugees, and also to enhance the agricultural productivity of farmers to increase their income.
The event was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and was attended by H.E. Mr. Giampaolo Cantini – Ambassador of Italy to Egypt, Mr. Dante Campioni - Managing Director & CEO of ALEXBANK, Mrs. Noura Selim - Executive Director of Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, Ms. Laila Hosni - Head of CSR & Sustainable Development at ALEXBANK, who welcomed several representatives from different entities and public and private NGOs and guests.
Dante Campioni, ALEXBANK’s CEO and Managing Director, stated: "we are happy to renew ALEXBANK’s cooperation with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, which has contributed in the past few years to many socially impactful initiatives, to the benefit of several Egyptian communities.
“The MOU aims to work across two main axes, the first is economic and social empowerment with a focus on women, youth and refugees, and the second is to support the farmers’ rural communities. This comes in line with the initiatives launched by the Egyptian government alongside Egypt Vision 2030, which also reflects the strategy in the field of ESG of Intesa Sanpaolo’s Group to which ALEXBANK belongs to” added Campioni.
On her part, Noura Selim, Executive Director of Sawiris Foundation for Social Development said: " We are pleased for the continuation of our strategic partnership with ALEXBANK, through which we were able to achieve our common vision in supporting the most marginalized segments and provide all what’s needed to guarantee them a decent and productive life. We hope that this MoU will achieve more successes and we also look forward, to strengthening our joint development programs and spending more time and effort in order to open new horizons for development initiatives aimed at building a better future worthy of the aspirations of the Egyptian people. At Sawiris Foundation, we believe that partnerships are the cornerstone for achieving sustainable development.”
ALEXBANK and SFSD have been long cooperating in order to achieve true impact for women, youth and refugees, through offering several services, most importantly provide for training and on-ground opportunities for artisans, facilitating access to markets by organizing and supporting annual exhibitions, and setting up online shops. Also, the integration of people with disabilities into the creative economy has been and will continue to be one of the focus of the joint cooperation.
The two parties also target to support projects that assist in the economic empowerment and improvement of livelihoods of youth and women capable to positively impact their income opportunities, while facilitating marginalized communities to access healthcare and other crucial services.
On the sidelines of the MoU signature, ALEXBANK and the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development (SFSD) hosted 600 children at their fifth annual celebration for homeless children, which was at held ZED Park and organized in cooperation with SamuSocial International Egypte, Carrefour Egypt, and Ora Developments.
The event celebrated the return of the new school year under the title of “The Heroes return to school” and included several activities for the children such as educational games and workshops with recycled materials and raising financial and environmental awareness through interactive games that educate the children on the culture, history and geography of their country. The event also included a contemporary dance performance by a group of children.
