ALEXBANK amongst the first banks to adopt the Energy Efficient Lighting Initiative

The program encompasses 44 branches as a 1st phase & targeting 170 branches nationwide Environment conservation & energy saving are the bank's strategic goal

Cairo, August 23rd , 2016 –  In support to the national energy conservation initiative, ALEXBANK has adopted a pioneering initiative – Energy Efficient Lighting– in which the bank decided converting its traditional lighting systems into energy efficient LED lights in all ALEXBANK branches.

In 2014, ALEXBANK took its first step towards its environmental substantiality program by signing a tripartite protocol with the Energy Efficiency Project funded by the United Nations Development Project (UNDP) in Egypt and implemented by the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy.

Dante Campioni, Managing Director & CEO of ALEXBANK, said: “The Energy Efficient Lighting Initiative is part of ALEXBANK’s commitment to conserve environmental resources and rationalize the consumption for the overall best interest of the present and future generations".

"The initiative also bolsters the national initiative of energy conservation in all sectors which is a must from economic and environmental perspectives contributing to promote a conscious use of the electricity in Egypt. "He added.

The initiative was first implemented at ALEXBANK's Head Office premises; in which data showed results of saving 30% of its electricity consumption in the two Head Offices. So far, the program has encompassed 44 branches which  achieved 30%-40% savings of its total electricity consumption. Consequently, the bank decided to have a future plan to convert lighting systems to LED technology in its remaining 126 branches with the ultimate aim to decrease energy consumption and reduce the CO2 emissions.
